The University of Algiers 1 celebrates the 62nd anniversary of Victory Day
Under supervision of the Rector of the University of Algiers 1, Professor
Fares Mokhtari, the University has celebrated today the 62nd
anniversary of the Victory Day, March 19, in the presence of a number of
Mujahideen, the Deans of the Faculties, the Vice-Rectors, the Vice-
President of the People’s Assembly of the Municipality of Algiers Centre,
as well as representatives of the Supreme Court, the National
Gendarmerie, the Civil Defence, and other official parties.
In his opening speech, the Rector of the University gave a historical
overview of this event, which made the Algerian Revolution a global
reference of resistance and rejection of colonialism, and urged to
preserve this historical legacy by redoubling efforts in the field of
scientific research in order to create wealth.
The writer and Mujahid Aissa Kssaissia has participated with a valuable
intervention, in which he shed light on a series of important events that
led, after a century and thirty years, to a ceasefire and the liberation of
the nation from colonialism.
The activities has also included a video containing live testimonies from
a number of Mujahideen about Victory Day, in addition to a recitation of
verses from the Holy Quran, by the students Mahaouchi Charifa and
Belakhal Naila, first and second place winners in the “Quran to be recited
to a generation that ponders” competition. The two students were also
honoured by the Rector of the University and the Dean of the Faculty of
Islamic Sciences.
On the sidelines of this celebration, a sporting activity was organized,
with the participation of students in different sports. In addition, the “Bio
Care Bio Tech” Association has organized an awareness campaign
about the importance of reducing sugar intake and adopting a healthy
lifestyle.
This celebration is an opportunity to renew the pledge of loyalty and
belonging to the nation, and celebrate our national history and our
struggle for freedom and independence. The University of Algiers 1
remains committed to strengthening the values of patriotism among
members of the university.
