Honoring ceremony for the Algerian student winners of Huawei ICT competition
The University of Algiers 1 Benyoucef Benkhedda hosted, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the University Library, a ceremony to honor the Algerian students who won the Huawei ICT competition in Shenzhen, China.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamal Badari, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Mr. Faisal bentaleb, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Microenterprises, Mr. Yacine El-Mahdi, and the High Commissioner for Digitization and Statistics, Mrs. Meriem Benmouloud, in addition to the winning student: Benharbi Lotfi, Arab Mohamed, Ighine Khaled, Larbi Ishak, Hattabi Ibtihal, Beljoudi Meriem, Lounici Ahmed, and Messaoudi Amine from the universities of Sidi Bel Abbès, Bejaia, Oran, Algiers and Batna, accompanied by their parents. They won the grand prize in the field of “Network and Cloud” and the first prize in the field of “Computing”.
The ministers praised the efforts of the students and their professors, which will take the Algerian universities to the level of global universities. The ministers also affirmed that the doors of their ministries are open to the aspirations of students, and considered this victory as a fruit of the efforts of students, professors and parents, and in line with the new program of the President of the Republic aimed at a knowledge economy and scientific research that supports development, and opens the university towards the economic sector and establishes partnerships.
The honoring ceremony concluded with the distribution of individual awards, including Order of Merit to the professors, Ahmed Merrah, Yacine Nekkche and Abdelkader Kihi, and Order of Merit to the students under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, in addition to collective rewards for students sponsored by Huawei Algeria, estimated at one million Algerian dinars for each team. The company ensured complete transparency from the beginning of the competition until the announcement of the results.
