The Rector of the University of Algiers 1 Attends a Colloquium on the International Women’s Day

On the invitation of the Rector of the Mosque of Algiers, Cheikh Mohamed Mamoune El-Kacimi El Hassini, the Rector of the University of Algiers 1 has attended, along with ministers and other state officials, a colloquium on the international women’s day.

The colloquium started with a recitation of Quran verses, followed by an opening speech of the Rector of the Mosque of Algiers. In addition, Dr. Leila Belkhir made an intervention on “The Approach of Prophet Muhammad -PBUH- for making pioneer woman models”, followed by an intervention of Dr. Akila Hocine on “The issues of modern muslim woman”.

The colloquium highlighted the role of woman in Islam and her status within the society, as well as correcting misconceptions about her rights and fighting against the negative traditions impeding its empowerment.
