1) The preparation to the MAGISTER   involves an initiatioin to research methodology and specialized seminars for a period of one year, followed by the writing of  memoir (for a period of a maximum of two years.)

The granting of the Magister  is conditioned by success to the defence of the memoir.

 

2) The  DPGS   involves  compulsory theoretical and practical  teaching as well as internships for  a toal of twelve (12) months. The candidate is required to write and defend  a memoir based on  his internship work in order to be granted  the degree. The holder of the DPGS is entitled to register  in the Magister  with the agreement  of tghe  Scientific Council involved.

 

3) The Master programme is twofold, involving a Research Master and a Professional Master.

The Master curriculum is conceived towards functionality, the stress being laid on  developing aptitudes to research, aptitudes which will  be more substantially developed at Doctoral level  ,

The MASTER curriculum is covered in 4 semesters (for a period of 2 years), corresponding to 120 credits , the final Master’s degree representing 300 credits (including the credits obtained under the  Licence).

The curriculum includes:

*. Theory
*. Methodology
*. Job-geared teachings
*. Internships
*.  Initiation to research
*. The writing of a memoir

 

Under this programme, the so-called M1 et M2 are designed respectively as:

*a job-oriented programme, completed by the granting of a Professional Master’s degree;

*a research-geared programme, completed with a Research Master,

 

With possibilities for cross-over courses between the two lines.

The University of Algiers experienced its first division in 1967, when its Oran Extension was raised to the level of a university. A second division took place in 1968, when the Constantine Extension was promoted as a University.
