Admission Requirements : among requirements for accessing undergraduate studies, candidates should  hold  a  Baccalauréat degree in one of the following specialties :

  • letters and  Islamic sciences;

  • letters and humanities;

  • letters and foreign languages;

  • exact sciences;

  • management and economy;

  • accounting techniques.

The Law   Faculty is composed of  two  departments :

  • the department of  public law;

  • the department of   private law.

 

Brief historical survey :

The  teaching of law  at the University of Algiers  dates back to 1879, the year  when the School of Law was created. This school  experienced constant developments. For a number of years, it was one department within the former Faculty of Law and Economics, before becoming part of the Institute of Law and Administration  Sciences in 1974. A full-fledged Law Faculty was established in 1998.

 

 THE  UNDERGRADUATE  PROGRAMME

Duration of studies leading to the  Licence degree in Law : :  04 years.

 

CURRICULUM OF STUDIES LEADING TO THE  LICENCE DEGREE IN LAW :

 

1st  Year :

  • Introduction  to judicial  sciences and to the theory of law;

  • introduction to constitutional law;legal  methodology and the;

  • philosophy of law; the  international community; political;

  • economy;    foreign language  terminology.

 

2nd  Year :

Commitments; administrative law; criminal law;  international law;   the Shari’a ; general finance; terminology.

 

 3rd  Year :

Private  contracts; constitutional law; lawsuits; implementation of law;   administrative disputes;labour and social security; private law;     human rights and  responsibility .

 

4th  Year :

International law; family law; commercial law.

Seminars on: comparative law; the civil service and  law implementation;  commercial law and  legal process.

 

Job openings :

 After graduating, one may find employment
