All Magister degree holders may access the Doctoral programme in all disciplines except  medical sciences.

Access to the Doctorate in Medical Sciences is open to holders of the Diplôme d’Etudes Médicales Spécialisées  (DEMS-Diploma of Specialized Medical Studies) and is also  based on results  credited and modalities  established as per rules.

1)      In the classical system:

The preparation of the Doctorate rests essentially on the writing of a Thesis to be defended  before a jury appointed by the Scientific Council involved. In its traditional form, the preparation take  a number of years and the conception of the thesis is  that of the  Doctorat d’Etat thesis.Currently, as part  of an effort to operate in line with international practice, the Doctorat d’Etat format is gradually giving way to the  New Doctorate (Nouveau Doctorat), which represents an attempt to match the PH.D conception, and which is to prevail in the future.

2) In the LMD System:

The Doctorate so conceived  stresses practical research  and espouses the format of the Ph.D.
