« FOOD INDUSTRIES BETWEEN THE ISLAMIC SHARI'A RULES AND MARKET DEMANDS
IMPORTED GOODS, WITH ADDITIVES »

Today, the issue of banned and unclean goods used in medicine and food products, with their attendant problems are a subject of concern for many Moslems, rendering urgent the issuing of fetwas in all the Islamic countries and in the western countries that host Moslems, the more so as these substances are linked to people's living needs and the difficulty of doing without them, as well as to the necessity or urgency of their use , or the plea that they are unavoidable.
The Faculty of Islamic Sciences wishes through this Colloquium on Additives to bring about a clarification of Shari's provisions in order to make people feel at ease, keep sinful and corrupt practices away from them and make attractive to them the benefits allowed by Islamic law as the latter is founded on bringing benefits within reach and extending them, and driving away and reducing wrongful things.
The Colloquium will have scholars and specialists devote their efforts to a scientific and legal, study, scrutinizing approaches from the origin of time, towards, God willing, providing healing answers and enlightenment to those engaged in this kind of food industry y of its efforts.
AXES of the COLLOQIUM:
- FIRST AXIS: IMPORTED SUBSTANCES, ADDITIVES, AND THEIR IMPORTANCE:
- The type of substances imported; their importance;
- The concept of additives
- Basic components of additives
SECOND AXIS: HOW THE SHARI'A VIEWS ADDITIVES AND IMPORTED SUBSTANCES:
- The importance attached by Islam to foods
- The provisions relating to the benefits inherent in banned substances
- The provisions elating to the benefits inherent in the substances generated by banned substances
- Islamic provisions on slaughtering animals
THIRD AXIS:
- Statistics related to infringements of quality and soundness requirements
- Food poisoning generated by poor preservation and maintenance
- The illegal chemical components according to Shari'a
- Problematics of genetically modified substances
FOURTH AXIS:
- Food control legal system
- Food control services , their role in protecting consumers
- Food security, climate change, biological energy.
The Dean of this Faculty Prof. Dr. Ammar Messaadi is honoured to invite you t take part I n this Colloquium through submitting your research or a paper on one or more of the axes hereabove mentioned.
Deadline for our receiving the abstracts/ 26 March, 2009.
Full texts to be received by the Dean's Office (on floppy disk): 01 May, 2009, so as to allow time for reproduction and distribution during the holding of the Colloquium.
